WORK EXPERIENCE

Dr Hawraman Ali is a lecturer in the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy at Ishik University. He holds a PhD from the University of Manchester (UK) in International Relations/ Middle Eastern Studies. His PhD thesis focused on the impact of regional and Cold War politics on the status of the Iraqi Kurds from 1958-75. His bachelor’s degree was in International Relations and Politics while the Master’s was in Diplomacy, Law and Global Change, both of which were attained from Coventry University (UK). Previously he was a Research Fellow at the Middle East Research Institute and has contributed to both local and international media, giving a specialist opinion.

His research interests include Middle Eastern politics, the Kurdish Issue in the Middle East, US foreign policy in the Middle East, foreign policymaking, self-determination in international law, and theories of international relations.
